” FINALLY SOME HOPE AT LAST ”

CARDIFF CITY 2 SHEFF WED 1

CardiffCityFC: Marshall, Brayford, Fabio, Manga, S Morrison, Gunnarsson, Noone, Whittingham, Pilkington, Daehli, Jones.
Crowd 20,901 incl 1,400 Sheff Wed fans

We all went in to this game disillusioned and a club in dissaray, but fair play to Scott Young and Danny Gabbidon they picked a strong team today and guess what all their right positions and we have not seen that from a Cardiff City team for over nine months.

Sheff Wed started strongly and for the first 15 minutes were on top and thankfully Fabio kicked the ball of the goal mouth line within the first 5 minutes.
I was starting to worry as it was looking one way traffic, but City kept their composure and held strong. We were lacking confidence and that was my main worry. Then Daehli for me who was in contention for man of the match and always looked dangerous set up the attack for Morrison to give us a shock one nil lead to City.

From then on I thought we controlled most of the first half including Gunnarson having a header saved by Wednesdays keeper that looked like going in.

The second half Wednesday started again brightly,we looked all over the place, with no shape and they scored to make it 1-1 or shall I say Morrison scored an own goal to make it 1-1.
Now I was worried as I expected us to crumble but we never and we took the game to them, this to me was the most pleasing part of the day.
Gunnarsson was everywhere and our team was now taking shape.
We started to put the pressure on them and it paid off with Pilkington making it 2-1 to City.
From then on City looked good and with Ravel Morrison now on the pitch, who by the way looked sheer class,it was looking more likely City to score another one.

Even with 5 minutes of injury time,we looked the better team.

A Great 3 points badly needed to give confidence to our team and fans.

Russell Slade watched the match from the main Grandstand, expected to be in charge for the Brighton game, he took notes all the way through the game,he must be pleased with the class of players he can manage.

I actually thought Sheff Wed looked an ordinary side but you can only beat whats in front of you and City did.

My Man of the match Aron Gunnarsson, was everywhere.

Atmosphere improved today and Brighton here we come.
