CARDIFF’S TERRIBLE RESULTS V THE WORSE TEAMS

‘ CARDIFF’S TERRIBLE RESULTS V THE WORSE TEAMS ‘

Yesterday’s goalless draw with lowly Rotherham United meant Cardiff City have now played all of the Championship’s bottom eight sides this season and it’s fair to say the results against those teams have been woeful.

The stats from those eight games read as follows:

Won 1, Drawn 4, Lost 3, Scored 3, Conceded 7, Points 7.

The results in chronological order were:

1-0 v Wigan Athletic (H)
1-1 v Fulham (A)
1-1 v Brighton & Hove Albion (A)
0-1 v Blackpool (A)
0-1 v Millwall (A)
0-3 v Bolton Wanderers (A)
0-0 v Birmingham City (A)
0-0 v Rotherham United (H)

Given the amount of money that has been spent on the current squad and the attacking firepower that the team is alleged to possess, the goals scored record in those eight matches is truly abysmal. Indeed, Cardiff haven’t managed to score a single goal in any of their four matches against bottom eight sides since Russell Slade became manager, and you could argue that record extends to five games as Slade was manager in all but name when the Bluebirds were beaten at Blackpool in October.

To put City’s record against the relegation-threatened sides into some sort of perspective, the fact is that bottom club Blackpool have scored twice as many goals as the Bluebirds in their seven matches against their fellow strugglers and have attained the same number of points (7).
