Carl Curtis : FA Cup Final and Cardiff City

Today’s Cup final between Arsenal and Aston Villa, it is good to see the BBC going back to what they did when I was a young lad, starting with football focus and dedicating the list of programming to the Cup Final, I am going to do a few chores this morning then settle down and spend the afternoon watching the build up and the game.

I still think that watching the City in a FA Cup Final is my proudest moment as a City fan, many will say seeing the club promoted to the Premier League is that moment but for four or five seasons I really believed that we would become a top flight side, it was a matter of when and not if, it doesn’t make our promotion any less brilliant, it is just that I think we had got there so close so many times it was more a relief and an about time moment than an unexpected one.

But the Cup Final in 2008, maybe because 1927 was etched in our history and something we will always be proud of, I felt as proud that day as I ever have watching the Bluebirds.

Even in defeat our club and especially our fans received widespread congratulations for the part we played that day, I grew up as a boy dreaming that City would be live on the BBC on Cup Final day but never ever expected that day to arrive.
