Carl Curtis : City player leaves and latest news from CCS
Cardiff City have, as of today, sold approximately 10,500 season tickets. Around 1,000 season tickets have been sold since the release of the new home kit and the signing of Sammy Ameobi. The club are hopeful they will reach 12,000 season tickets sold by the start of the season.
The club are targeting a centre midfielder to sign before the transfer window closes and don’t expect to do much more business on incoming transfers other than that.
The club have ended their interest in Johnny Russell and will not be pursuing it any further.
Regarding players leaving the club, I am told that a departure is imminent and is likely to be completed and announced late this evening. Javi Guerra and Adam Le Fondre would probably be two of the names that fans expect would be the most likely to leave next but I was told that it is neither of those who will be the next out of the door. The player heading out the door is Tom Adeyemi on loan.
Even though both Guerra and Le Fondre are expected to leave, it was interesting to learn that Malaga have not made any contact with City about the Spaniard striker.
City’s first pre-season friendly against Forest Green this week will not feature David Marshall, Ben Turner, Semi Ajayi or Aron Gunnarsson. The three outfield players have minor concerns like tightness of muscles so will not be risked on Wednesday.
Bluebirds fans’ continuing good behaviour at matches will hopefully help with less restrictions this coming season and it is likely to see less RV’s than we have had in previous seasons. Over the course of last season there were just 24 arrests made home and away. Twenty three of those arrests were at away grounds with just the one solitary arrest made at Cardiff City Stadium.
