Carl Curtis : Newport County want former City striker Warren Feeney

Struggling League Two side Newport County have made an approach for Linfield manager and former Cardiff City striker Warren Feeney.

The ex-Northern Ireland 50 capped striker Feeney, is currently having a good spell as manager of Linfield, winning ten of their last eleven games, last season the Blues finished runners up in the league and had a successful campaign in Europe.

The Belfast born manager was previously the number two at non-league Salisbury City before taking over at Linfield.

Newport County are hoping that Feeney will agree to join up with John Sheridan, as assistant manager, in a new look Newport management team, after the Welsh side dismissed former England International Terry Butcher as their manager, after winning just once in twelve games.

A move back to South Wales may appeal to Feeney, who had a successful spell at Swansea City, after being made available for loan whilst at Cardiff City.
