When we were Walking to the Charlton ground last Saturday, we bumped in to crowds of kids with a few adults to every group.
We asked them what the protest was about today, as we had heard Charlton fans were going to be protesting and one woman replied to us that she was a Millwall fan and her old Dad was fuming she was going to watch Charlton and that she was taking all the kids.
She said but Charlton now give away 3,000-5,000 free tickets to the kids every home game, so we could not turn it down.
She joked, that she had her told her Dad that she would be cheering on Cardiff.
Charltons crowd was up by 3,000 v City.
To be fair City in 1972, gave about 100 free tickets to my Marshfield Junior school and I persuaded my Grandfather(who had to pay) to take me and the following season we both bought season tickets.
Personally I’m not impressed with how City are marketed to the South Wales football fans.
We hold 33,500 and crowds and barely 13,000 are attending, once in a bluemoon City do some kind of promotion for the kids schools, not enough in my opinion and that shows by the terrible attendances.
I personally believe 5,000 Free kids vouchers should go out to schools for every home.
Also ask for fans to come down and collect free vouchers for kids and they can distribute them all over South Wales.
City fans would love to be involved in helping their club get bigger crowds.
City fans would love to be involved in promoting the club.Fans then come to the stadium on match days and exchange them for free tickets for the kids.
I honestly believe we would increase our home crowds by 3,000-5,000 every home game.
Also these potential fans are our future.
Revenue would increase in the shop and food sales and many might return, plus adults coming along would have to pay.
