Today’s game was won early on thanks to two early goals and an excellent and assured start from City’s four attacking players, Pilkington, Immers, Lawrence and Whittingham.

In the first twenty minutes of the game the four of them created space, either for each other or to find space that gave them an advantage ofthe ball came to them.

They managed to pull the back four of Brighton all over the pitch and quite simply Brighton’s defence couldn’t live with the movement.

It was fitting that Pilkington, Whittingham and Immers got the first three goals.

I thought Tom Lawrence had an outstanding game and looks a real threat.

Some of the football today was the best we have seen at home but to be honest it was on a par with some of the displays we have seen on the road on a number of occasions.

I am sure some will claim it is the best performance of the season, it certainly is at home but I think the Wolves away display was better.

I am delighted to get the three points and hats off to Russell Slade, who has had to deal with a massive amount of criticism this season, which I believe some of it has been unjustified.

Many times this season, poor decisions and poor finishing has cost us too many points but the manager has been roundly criticised though the players have been more culpable than the manager.

I hope fans give Slade and the players the credit for today’s excellent performance and result.

I am going to Middlesbrough on Tuesday with hope in my heart that we can come away with something from the game.

Before today Brighton had only lost once on the road and that was a hammering for them in terms of conceding four goals.

Confidence will be high tonight and I see no reason why we cannot kick on from today and push for a play off spot.
