Not sure if many will remember this but Cardiff City had a bid accepted of £1m for Jamie Vardy when he was at Fleetwood in the conference.
Malky Mackay saw the potential in Vardy and had his bid accepted but the player chose Leicester City over the bluebirds and the rest is history as they say.
Some may not remember this for a number of reasons, Vardy weren’t a big name then obviously and at the exact time of our bid was smack in the middle of the rebrand story breaking, TG had released a statement at the time saying the Malaysians had scrapped plans for the re-branding during some fraught days.
It makes you wonder what success Vardy would have been at Cardiff and how his success may have helped City, no doubt Vardy doesn’t regret his decision to choose Leicester.
