Declan John was the perfect fit for Paul Trollopes system yesterday v Shrewsbury.
Declan started his first match in what seems a long long time ago.
Now Declan needs to be given a run of games, not in and out for weeks or months like Slade did with him.
The formation was a particularly good fit for 21-year-old, who terrorised the Shrewsbury Town defence and was a livewire linking defence and attack.
Declan John constantly drifted in behind the back four making a nuisance of himself, stretching the game and being responsible for setting up a number of half-chances – and the opening goal.
In what is a relatively radical change from the standard 4-4-2 employed by former boss Russell Slade, Declan John in particular had plenty of joy.
The youngster spent a lot of last season out on loan at Chesterfield, who impressed whilst on loan, but a new manager at Cardiff City in Paul Trollope and a new system could spark his Bluebirds career back to life.
What is good for Cardiff City, Declan is not one of the high earners at our club.
Declan could bring more desire and passion to the Welsh side as well.
