My Thoughts on Todays Cardiff City defeat at QPR

BY NED THOMAS

Thought we were very unlucky to leave Loftus Road with nothing today. I would say that a win for either team would be a harsh result on the other team, and a draw would’ve been about right – but not to be.

I know Warnock says we need 50 points before we’re safe, but I think we’re already there. We’re 12 points clear of the bottom three with eleven games to go, and it would take an incredible run of results for us to go down.

We started brightly and caused QPR problems early on, with Kadeem Harris particularly impressive in the early stages. But they grew into the match and were unlucky not to take the lead when they hit the post.

Our goal was probably against the run of the play, but a great header by Sol Bamba – who would be my man of the match for us. He was crucial once again at the back.

Second half we were the better team for a lot of it, but a great finish from them made it 1-1. Just before the goal that proved to be QPR’s winner, McGregor made a great save. Didn’t look like he could do anything about the goal moments later but always disappointing to concede from a set piece.

All in all, a disappointing journey back but it wasn’t a bad performance from us. The good thing about this period is Warnock can learn a lot about some of the players currently at the club and whether he wants to keep them next season.

If I was going to criticise anyone, it would be Connolly and Morrison. I don’t like singling players out but, even though they both made crucial tackles, they both make far too many mistakes.

Confident we can get the three points at Blackburn, but this is a phase now where Warnock can start planning for next season. Of course wins along the way would be great, but luckily we’re not in danger anymore.

Great support from Cardiff City fans today :ayatollah:
