Neil Warnock currently has Lee Peltier, Rhys Healey, Bruno Manga on long term injuries.
Plus Neil Warnock has Rickie Lambert on daily treatment for his back and continues to see specialists, where it is thought he might need an operation this coming summer.
Matty Connolly pulled out the night before the Blackburn game through injury.
Then on the day of the game after being named in the match day squad Aron Gunnarsson had to pull out as his virus had got worse since the QPR away game, this is why Neil Warnock only had six subs against Blackburn Rovers.
The Icelandic international was unable to play because of the orders of the Cardiff City Club Doctor, and Warnock even said that the 27-year-old should not have played in their weekend defeat away to Queens Park Rangers. He has been a key player this season, even more so since Warnock took over as manager and Warnock has stated Gunnarsson is part of the backbone of Cardiff City’s team
“We were decimated. We lost Connolly and Gunnarsson has a virus – he shouldn’t have played Saturday against QPR.”
“I had a chat with the doctor and he said that all the travelling and the fact he still isn’t right could have put him out for weeks if we weren’t careful.
“We decided not to risk him though it did make us look very thin because we couldn’t put another on the bench.”
“We just have to get on with it. We should have some back soon, but I don’t know whether that will be in time for Saturday.”
“I needed to strengthen in January but was unable to due to current finances at the club, but I have been reasurred that if we can offload a number of players this summer I can bring in a number of new players.
Warnock will be hoping that Aron Gunnarsson and Matt Connolly are available for this Saturdays home game against Birmingham City.
